It's the middle of winter and although we are busy some days and not so busy on some days in the flowershop, we are busier than heck in the greenhouses. We have two of the eight greenhouses running right now (using loads of that not-too-cheap propane).
On any day we have two to three thousand cuttings rooting on the heated mist bench, sometimes up to 6,000 cuttings rooting at once. We are just potting up some of the hanging baskets from cuttings now. Ivy geraniums, fuschias, new guinea impatiens and more.
We have houseplants, herbs, succulents and algerian ivy hanging baskets amongst others growing for the Fourth Annual Siouxland Garden Show. It will be held again at the Marina Center in South Sioux, Nebraska on March 19th and 20th. That is a Friday and Saturday.
We have seeded our perennials that are grown from seed and many of those have germinated, almost 100 varieties. We also grow perennials from cuttings, divisions, corms and bulbs for around 350 varieties of perennials. Some new ones every year.
As usual, we are growing a number of new annuals and colors of some of the favorites. We will be offering four Wave Petunia varieties that we have not grown before as well as many Proven Winners.
Spring is only a hop, skip and a jump away. Seeya soon.

Green Acres, located in the scenic Loess Hills, 2 miles west of Smithland

Smithland, Turin, Ute and Whiting.
